Are you looking for an outdoor holiday event with plenty to see and do? I have just the place. Each Year, Steubenville Ohio transforms itself into a town full of magical life size nutcrackers. In fact, the collection is considered to be one of the largest displays in the world. Put on your walking shoes as you’ll find 185 nutcrackers carefully placed throughout the town and in front of local businesses. There is plenty of magic and whimsy scattered in the air. I attended last year’s event and left feeling a little bit lighter in spirit.
All of this holiday magic is brought to you by the vision of Nelson’s of Steubenville, a local family-owned manufacturing business. The labor of love started in 2015 and continues for those in the community and beyond through a partnership between Nelsons and the Old Fort Steuben Project.
In addition to the Nutcracker Village, there is an Advent Market with artisan vendors, food, and drink. Add to the list a train museum, Fort Steuben Gift Shop, Holly Trolley Rides, story time for kids, holiday movies, and more. The event is free and Fido is welcome to visit on a leash. Only 50 miles from Pittsburgh it is well worth the drive. The venue opened November 23, 2021 and runs until January 8, 2022.
